We’re always looking for creative, enthusiastic, focused, and hard-working individuals to join us at Michigan.

If you are interested in working with us, please write to John Hart. Include your CV, a list of three references, and a brief statement of your research interests and goals. Students from any department at the University of Michigan including Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Materials Science, may work in our group. We also frequently work with undergraduates via the SURE, NSF REU, UROP and Marian Sarah Parker programs, and via research for credit opportunities (ME490 or equivalent).

Prospective graduate students are also encouraged to apply for fellowships, such as those from the National Science Foundation, NDSEG Program, DHS, or Hertz Foundation. The application process alone is an excellent opportunity to express your scientific ideas in writing, and fellowship funding offers much greater freedom in creating a research project based on your personal interests.
